German Breakfast

German Breakfast

Pour yourself a cup of coffee, fresh squeezed juice and maybe if some champagne made it's way into the juice, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world! This breakfast hearkens back to time spent in Germany over the leisurely cup of coffee.

Ingredients

  • Several slices of seedy bread caraway, poppy and/or sesame are traditional (or a hunk of bread torn from a seeded loaf
  • 10 slices Salami your choice
  • 1 2 oz Wedge Cambozola or Gorgonzola
  • ¼ cup Cream cheese
  • 1 Coddled egg optional
  • ¼ cup Seasonal fruit

Instructions

  • On a large platter, layer your chosen ingredients all around. Add some of your favourite preserves and dig in!

Notes

Traditional German Breakfast will usually contain sausages, seeded bread, local cheeses, soft boiled or coddled eggs and cured meats. Sometimes you'll find muesli and yogurt alongside - pull together your favorites and sit back and enjoy! We hesitate to call this a recipe - more of a loose guideline to your perfect German breakfast, one that's near and dear to our hearts.
